The Toronto CADORA Hall of Fame was initiated in Spring 2009 to recognize those in the local dressage community who have made an outstanding contribution to the development and promotion of the sport in the Toronto area and beyond.
We invite Toronto CADORA members to nominate worthy candidates for inclusion in the Toronto CADORA Hall of Fame. Simply select the appropriate category below and send us a letter with any accompanying material providing a detailed outline of why you feel your nomination should be considered. Nominations must be received by June 1 each year. The Hall of Fame Selection Committee will review the nominations and make their selection by June 30, 2010. Inductees in 2009 included Christilot Hanson-Boylen, Cindy Ishoy, Lorraine Stubbs (Founders/Athletes); Jack Leitch (Valued friend/supporter); Toni Thompson (Volunteer); Dynasty, Bonheur and Firmus (Stall of Fame -- Horse). The 2010 Hall in Fame induction ceremony takes place Saturday, November 20, 2010 at the Second Annual Toronto CADORA Hall of Fame and Awards Banquet. Details will be available on this website soon.

The categories are as follows:
Valued Friend/Supporter
The Valued Friend/Supporter Award is given to someone who has demonstrated an interest in the development of dressage in the Greater Toronto Area (and beyond). This could be a donor, sponsor, breeder, coach or anyone who has gone above and beyond the call over a period of years to help strengthen the sport of dressage. Specific consideration will be given to anyone who has at some point been involved at or with Toronto CADORA, no matter where they may live or work at the time of nomination.
Athlete -- Rider
To be eligible for this award the rider athlete must have been a Toronto CADORA member at some point during their career. This person demonstrates good sportsmanship, excellence at FEI level and is a good role model for aspiring dressage riders. They also demonstrate a willingness to give back to the sport whether through clinics, training and other opportunities and are active in their local dressage community.
Stall of Fame -- Horse
To be eligible for this award, the horse must have represented Canada in national and/or international competition and been ridden by an athlete who is, or has been, a member of Toronto CADORA. Perhaps most importantly, the horse needs to have captured the hearts and imaginations of equine enthusiasts. Also eligible are Canadian breeding stock whose progeny have represented Canada successfully in national and international competition.
Volunteer
To be eligible for this award the volunteer must have been a Toronto CADORA member at some point though it is not required at the time of nomination. The volunteer must have demonstrated, over a number of years, a dedication to Toronto CADORA and the sport of dressage through their volunteer efforts, i.e. helping at shows, clinics, working on the Executive and other administrative functions.

TC Youth Bursary AwardThe youth are the future of our sport. To encourage youth invovlement in clinics, volunteering and other aspects of the discipline of dressage and to develop character building in all aspects of their lives, Equestrian Factory Outlet is sponsoring an annual Youth Bursary Award in the amount of $250. This award is to be given to one outstanding youth member per year who demonstrates dedication and commitment to her/his development in the sport. The qualifying time period to complete all the criteria is January 1 to November 1 each year. The young rider must be between 14 and 21 years of age at time of application and have completed the following criteria:
All of the above criteria must be monitored by the individual applying for the Bursary and be sent via email to the TC Youth Chair, Andrea Wetzel at tcyouth@live.com for review by the TC Youth Committee.

Nominations are being accepted for the 2010 Toni Thompson "Spirit of Dressage" Award
This award is given to someone who has demonstrated “dedication, performance and merit and devotes positive energy to the betterment of the sport of dressage ...” and was named after Toronto CADORA member and Past President, Toni Thompson, who worked tirelessly in a volunteer capacity on behalf of dressage for most of her adult life.
Do you know a Toronto CADORA or Caledon Dressage member who serves as a volunteer and who meets the criteria? Are you a member of Toronto CADORA or Caledon Dressage?
If so, you can nominate a fellow member for the Toni Thompson “Spirit of Dressage” Award. The winner will be announced, and receive a $350 bursary and special recognition gift, at the Second Annual Toronto Hall of Fame and Awards Banquet, Saturday, November 20, 2010.
The nominee and nominator must both be members of Toronto CADORA at the time of nomination.
